Why I’m on Substack
Welcome to my Substack, and thanks for signing up!
I’m sure some of you know me from Twitter/X, or maybe you’ve read/seen my work.
For those who don’t know me, my name is Eduardo Neret. I’m a conservative writer, commentator, and TV producer. I spent the last three years producing for Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News. Prior to that, I was the spokesman and the in-house man-on-the-street guy for Campus Reform.
After leaving Fox News shortly after they took Tucker off the air and canceled his show, I decided to start my own media company. I hope to continue my career in conservative media and politics, and this Substack is one of the ways I plan on doing that.
Most of the media, including right-wing media by the way, is unoriginal, boring, and repetitive. It’s hard not to be, since most of the audience and the media generally share the same views and beliefs. So it’s not a surprise that the coverage itself becomes predictable. It’s part of the reason why, for example, you can turn on Fox News at any hour of the day and hear the same news you heard hours prior. It’s a rinse and repeat method of the “top stories” of the day. In a way, you can know what the news is for the day without even consuming it.
We tried to present the news a little differently at Tucker’s show, and that element of conservative news has certainly taken a hit since his departure.
It’s not say there aren’t conservative voices out there presenting new stories or unique analysis. They definitely exist, and I’m sure many of you already follow them: people like Megyn Kelly, Matt Walsh, and a bunch of other smaller creators are worth reading, listening to, and following because they provoke thought, investigate new layers, and advance the conversation. That’s exactly why I’m joining Substack, and what I intend to do.
What I intend to offer
I can’t promise that I’ll be the first or fastest to report on any breaking news. I definitely won’t always be the only person talking about any given subject matter or story.
But what I can promise is that everything I write about here will be distinct, and from my unique perspective, research, or information. My hope is that readers will subscribe to my content because they feel like by reading my work, they’re learning something new that they hadn’t previously read, thought, or heard about anywhere else.
I hope to not just write about politics or current events either. Some of my posts will be my musings or my thoughts. I hope to be entertaining and fun too.
You’ll start receiving new posts right here in your inbox. I plan posting at least one to two times a week to start.
Whether all of this works or not depends on you, of course. So thank you for subscribing and signing up. For now, most, if not all, of my posts will be free. I hope to show you all what my content is like first, to prove it’s worth paying for. I also need some time myself to figure out what subscriber-only content would look like.
Though I won’t be working on Substack full-time since I’m self-employed and trying to grow my business, I’d still appreciate any paid support or subscriptions for those who are able. Any revenue I generate on Substack will help me create more content, which I hope to expand beyond writing (maybe a podcast or video). If you like my work, please pass it along and share with friends. And feedback is always welcome.
Thank you for your support,
Eduardo Neret
